Arcola Farm combines the love of riding and showing Morgan horses with the experience of breeding the best mares with leading stallions of the breed. The chief goal of the farm is to produce desirable offspring for both performance and pleasure while also encouraging others to appreciate and support the versatile Morgan horse.

The scenic St. Croix River cuts a deep border along Minnesota’s eastern edge and gives rise to magnificent bluffs high above its banks. As these bluffs spread out to the West they produce lush, rolling horse country reminiscent of the Vermont landscape where Justin Morgan established the breed. Framed by hardwood and coniferous forests and fed by abundant natural springs and streams, the meandering fields and pastures of Arcola Farm present a most picturesque setting where Morgans flourish.

Crisp, colorful barns and stables distinguish Arcola Farm and represent our special combination of traditional and advanced horse care and breeding. We pride ourselves on providing our horses with quality care, good feed, and plenty of room to roam. We also provide a family’s loving touch.

What began as Kirsten’s childhood dream has evolved into the Johnson family passion. Today, the entire Johnson family – Kirsten, Ron, and their children – share the responsibilities and joys of operating a Morgan breeding farm.

Scottish Highlander cattle are raised organically at Arcola Farm. This lean-beef producer has acclimated well to the St. Croix River Valley and makes a striking addition to the landscape.

Arcola Farm started small. The first Johnson mare inspired
everyone in the family to become better riders and Morgan
aficionados, and it wasn’t long before the family was increasing
its stable and buying top-caliber horses to show.

Arcola Farm is proud of its herd of quality broodmares, and has
been pleased to see their offspring continue to evolve and prosper.

“Thanks to all who have helped make Arcola Farm a dream come true.”

Sincerely,

Ron and Kirsten Johnson
